Guest Designer on MAG

I am honored to have been picked as a guest designer on MAG this week for Challenge By The Page #28!  {Nifty Fifties Cartridge Page 29}
I have been Crafty for my entire life. (I think I was born with a crayon in my hand) I was sewing my own clothes and crocheting before I was 10 years old. I have probably tried out every craft imaginable.

My Love for Paper Crafts started 2004, when my daughter asked me to show her how to make a Scrapbook. (She just assumed I would know how) Since I'd never done it before, we learned together and I have been hooked ever since!

I am married and work full time, so it is sometimes difficult to find the time for scrapbooking, but I do the best I can to spend a little time each night in my beautiful Scrapbook Room which was a present from my darling husband a couple years ago.

This project was very easy for me, since I Love the” Nifty Fifties Cricut Cartridge! I used my Gypsy to reverse one of the poodles so they could face each other. I cut off their leashes and added some bling to their collars. And I made the word "fifty" out of "nifty". I hope you like what I have created and will visit my blog Diary of A Scrapbook Addict, to see more cards and scrapbook pages I have been working on.

Fireplace in the Basement

Week 2 - Made it Myself Mondays
Recently we had a new sump pump put in our basement, which meant breaking up the floor & tearing down walls. So, for the 3rd time, Mark (my hubby) refinished the basement.  The 2nd time was due to a new furnace & Ducts throughout the basement ceiling. The first time was, well... it was the first time.  These basement finishing projects have been spread out over a period of almost 30 years.

So, anyway, we needed something for the wall behind the gas stove.  I picked out these tiles at Home Depot and drew a design on graph paper using the different sizes these tiles came in.  Mark went by my drawing and duplicated it exactly on the wall. He also used a larger matching tile for the floor underneath the stove.  I'd say he did a Fantabulous job!

Winner Alert!

Thank you to all who follow my blog & helped me reach my goal of 200! I hope my projects give you ideas you can use towards your own cards & layouts. I finally reached my goal of 200 followers at about 6:00 pm last night and had 41 comments eligible to win at that time. Comment #18  was randomly chosen by my True Random Number Generator as winner for my give away.

200 Follower/Blog Hop Give Away

Wow, I would say the Birthday Bash Blog Hop was quite a success yesterday.  I was #21 on a list of 25 participants and I had 32 visitors! Thank you to all who hung in there through the entire Hop and left such kind comments about my Tri-fold Shutter Card.  I hope it inspired some of you who have not made one, to try it.  I had posted measurements and directions for this type of card back in March, you can find them HERE.

As of this morning I am only 4 followers away from 200 on Google Friend Connect! As I posted yesterday, when I reach 200 followers I will be randomly picking a winner for the ek Success edger punch (which was pictured on yesterday’s post) The winner will be picked from yesterday’s blog hop comments AND anyone who comments here on this post, until I reach 200 followers.  I think this will happen sometime today, so leave your comments, let me know you are already a follower or that you are a new follower,  and I will check back later this afternoon!

Homemade Clip it Up

I have been wanting to post a picture of my "homemade" Clip it Up for a few weeks now... So finally, here it is.  I used a revolving shoe rack ($10 at Bed Bath & Beyond with coupon) and 8 boxes of small binder clips (88 cents per box at Walmart)  The shoe rack had 3 tiers but I did not use the bottom one so that I'd be able to hang longer things on the lower part of the rack and shorter items on the top.  The lower tier has the shoe rack turned upside down for maximum hanging area.  The upper rack I left right side up to form a "basket" on top for some of my flowers & ribbons.

I attached the clips by removing the wire part of the clip on one side, slipping it over the outer circle on the shoe rack tier, and then reassembling the clip.  (See close up below)

Total cost for the homemade Clip it Up... under $20.
Price of a purchased "Clip it Up" (top and bottom tier) Plus extra clips...  Over $100.
Satisfaction of knowing I have $80 left to spend on more Scrapbook Supplies... Priceless!

Create a gift with pink, ribbon, stitching and two different flowers.

This mini scrapbook was stitched together on my sewing machine.  I put handmade flowers on the cover & pre-made flowers on the inside. Each page is made from a 12 x 12 - 2 sided piece of  K & Company Scrapbook paper.  The book is almost complete, but I wanted to get it up here on time, so a few tags are still missing.
